PLANNING CONCEPTS – It is a corner plot open from 2 sides to the road. The design uses traditional cooling methods found in the desert environment of Rajasthan, such as green landscape and the use of Jali-inspired structures. House is designed according to VASTU SHASTRA guidelines. It is always suggested to intake of the enough sunlight, fresh air and space required to attain life’s charm, hygiene, health, wealth and families harmony. It also emphasizes to maintain nature’s own value and sanctity like rainwater harvesting, plantation making it enviroment free from pollution 7 hazards. Design of this house uses two sectional views: horizontal and vertical. Horizontal moves creates two courtyards one at back of house and another connecting first and second floor while the vertical moves digs the central landscape with upper floors.
The combination of these two moves serves the house interlocking with site and surrounding. Thus interweaving the inside outside spaces with a play of light and dark. The “Client” brief was for a multistory family home on a narrow exposed site that would incorporate views, while at the same time, providing security and privacy. The owner wanted an open-plan design with lots of light and a sense of space throughout the house, as well as privacy and quite for the bedroom on upper levels. The building turns into a dramatic space at night enhanced by lights and create shadows which fall on the walls of the building and it seems that they are merging. The fusion of light and shadow in the exterior is so profound that the building seems to glow and shine at night and the sight of it is so nostalgic. Interrelated open space is generic basis of landscape design, permeating the HOUSE, symbiotic relations has been established. Hall in basement leads to bar area which opens into home theatre. The bar has a trapped ceiling and wooden panels as design elements. The bar-an extension adds the jazz to the theatre provides the luxury feel to the basement.
ELEVATIONAL CONCEPTS – The front corner elevation has Jaali work balanced by tensile framed structure in front of entrance lobby.
